One of the easiest ways to get out into Graubunden’s snowy landscapes, where the mountains are unspoilt, is to strap on a pair of snowshoes. Snowshoes can get you across most trails, and the learning curve is practically nil – if you can walk, you can snowshoe. Equipment is minimal as well: in addition to the snowshoes, you’ll only need waterproof boots, snow pants or gaiters, and poles. Simply strap on the snowshoes under your winter boots, take the poles in your hand and the adventure starts practically from your hotel door. An adventure awaits not only in the mountains offering incredible views, but there is also a labyrinth of trails along the valley floor.

Prefer to go with a snowshoe guide? They will guide you safely off the marked trails through snow-covered forests and untouched winter landscapes.

For a different nature experience, snowshoe hikes at full moon are a spectacular experience. Best combined with a traditional Grison dinner in a mountain hut post hike!

Flims Laax, Davos Klosters and Lenzerheide are the best areas to start your snowshoeing journey. Signposted routes on the trails provide information about techniques, exertion level and coordination.
